A Ray of Hope for the Tulia Texas Defendants . . . A Eye-Opener for Us All

Justice in a Small Town [Law.com]

Defense lawyers did great work and have begun (and hopefully are close to finishing) the process of achieving justice for the many African-American defendants in this case.  Unfortunately, this case has to leave all of us to wonder the number of times each year that our criminal justice system works similar injustices which will never be corrected because of the lack of resources necessary to do these jobs and the lack of interest where a single defendant might be involved.  The only  real solution is continuing to reform law enforcement and to hope that jurors begin to understand that law enforcement testimony, like that from anyone with a vested interest in the outcome of a trial, must be scrutinized with the utmost care.
