Flew Sunday 7 July from Sasso. Unusually spectacular looking day, clear, but ground was wet from 24 hrs of rain. Result: even a 2.45pm launch had me struggling in small thermals.
At about 3.15 I crossed real low (950m?) to the Brusciatta wherefinally was rewarded with a climb, up to 1400 or so and over to Nudo. Again a wait but got 1650, crossed to Colonna (now 1hr into the flight...) . There I missed the thermal that others took back downwind to Pian, sunk, and at 1200 committed myself to going back. Low in front of Nudo things started to switch on... and climbed 1000m out to nearly 2000m in a big wide thermal with several HG's.
At this point I decided to cross to Forte Orino, but arrived way too low - down to 900 when I got over the ridge coming down west. Too flat and low to get any lift, I swung back north, dropped into the valley and landed at 4 Strada. 1h15 or so.
