The glide angle functions work pretty well. You've got to have a goto waypoint active, but that's no big deal. The current glide angle jumps around - of course - but the "glide to destination is more stable (of course) and if it gets steeper, you're winning. Recommended, as Jerry Pournelle would say.

By contrast, EGNOS is not really functioning well yet, certianly not with Garmin products, and there are (I suspect) good reasons. I can get the WAAS correction no problem, but I've turned it off for now.

Saturday 27 June 2002: forecast was a big day, in fact overdeveloped (rare) to give 7/8ths cloud. Mostly ridge lift at first, escaped from Sasso low (1000m) then climbed slowly (like, 0.5m/s up) to get under Nudo TO; ridge lift in front of Nudo until I got to the summit (beautiful being so low and close to the trees.

Then got close enough for the clouds to work, up to nearly 1500m... decided to go out in front, over Gemonio still at 1350m. Headed for home rather than Forte Orino (that was a bit chicken) and of course ended up low behind Cardana. Good flight though. The baro showed max was +2...

July is now getting better: in fact if I look over the three decent flights (two others less good) then I've covered some ground. Blue track is the 17th, pink is 20th, and green is 13th or something.

It's not all bad here in July - June is worst summer month, I guess.
