Blah, Blah, Blah. I'm still on the computer thing today in my post-a-day pledge. While partisans can give off the impression of passion, they generally are a bore of rhetoric.

So, call me a bore. And a partisan. I got in Panther today and it's swell-o-riffic. Expose alone is worth it, and the quartz looks even better on the same hardware. I'm a bonafied mac-head. No surprise, there. The instillation alone took an hour and a half (not one hitch, but you knew that.) I still have three more installs on the partitioned drives, might do a few full wipes and install because it's not a hassle. No 50 digit BS, there wasn't even any configuring to do. Everything from the old system updated automatically.

Let's compare that to the project at work. We have excellent fast computers with big ole 200 gig drives to hold I estimate 17,000 songs. I'm busy getting the radio station automated with the new computers. I don't mind Windows XP (She's the prettiest lil pig, yet), but the software is hair-pulling. I've read the 200 page manual, like, four times and it's still unorganized. I think, if working correctly, we'll be happy with the software and I picked it for price and features, I like the features. But in the manuals, there's warnings about every two paragraphs saying "One tiny error will cause major problems." Ugh. I called the tech support near the end of the day and since 'tech support' time was almost over and it seemed like a two-hour call, I have to call back tomorrow. Now, I'm not the biggest idiot, I have been managing the three computer networks for about six months and it's gone okay. There's about a restart every two days, but no big problems. The sound just acts funny without the occasional restart. (Well, there is about 100 installs of gator that I have to eliminate on the other computers , thanks grey-market surfing students.) At least the tech support guy is nice. And I always feel more American using Windows because I'm actively giving people--like tech support guys--jobs. Then again, Linux needs tech support---and it's not as crashy. I sometimes get the feeling Windows developers don't like developing much on Windows, but hey, ya go where the money is, I suppose.

Anyway, January 26th is the date K-92 should go 24/7.

That is if the log-making process goes well. Baby steps.
