The AMD Machine In Service

I spent the day getting the new computer running so I could toss the EvilPC out for the kids. For most of the work I do the extra speed isn't that apparent -- I mean, MSWord already scrolled too fast to suit me. But viewing news in the Radio Aggregator is a whole lot quicker. My aggregatorData.root file is about 85MB, and loading up the News page (default, Kit, or myRadio) took a good little while. Switching pages in myRadio took so long as to make me question whether it was worth using.

The new machine zips a page up in just a second or two. Much better. I'm sure I'll find other benefits. And hopefully reliability will be up so I can stop thinking about computers for a while, letting them fade off into the background like all good technologies should.
