My favorite issue of Forbes arrived today.
It is the issue that contains the list of the 200 best small companies. This year Forbes calls them the Hot Shots: the 200 Best Small Companies. I keep the issue and refer to it off and on throughout the year.
The list is a good place to get stock ideas. The magazine lists the company's 5-year average sales and EPS growth rates and the 5-yr average Return on Equity. For the top ten companies the data includes latest 12-months sales and EPS growth rates. I look for companies whose 12-months averages are above their 5-year growth rates. These stocks tend to be overpriced, but definitely worth checking out using the Smart Stock Analysis Guide and creating a buy list for those down weeks.
