I'm home again!
I went to the Slingerland Institute for Literacy board meeting in Seattle via the Portland Museum and the Rau Collection.
The Rau Collection particularly interested me since Dr. Rau collected the 95 paintings not as an investment but because of a personal connection with each painting. I, too, connected with several--an El Greco, Cassett, and Monet.
The Slingerland Board meeting was one of the best we've had. In addition, I had the opportunity to hear Marcia Henry talk about teaching decoding and spelling. Her new book, Unlocking Literacy, is well done. She has such a nice presentation style---warm and so knowledgeable.
