Woo hoo! Although my very first podcast was a trouncing failure (neither my students nor I have ipods to say the least - so how and what was I podcasting is another story) I love the video-ipod and want it. What exactly I love about it isn't yet quite clear to me - functionally, I mean. I don't watch TV shows and so the predictions about "liquid" content that consumers will now control and the video revolution leave me cold. But here's what I'm expecting the new technology/gadget to do for me. Apple's Aiport Express with AirTunes was a Christmas gift last year and I started out being lukewarm towards it; we'd already had wi-fi since the late 90s and so wireless printing or net surfing was no big deal. Soon though I couldn't help playing with the beautifully engineered airports and voila! I re-discovered music I'd forgotten, had a wonderful learning experience with mp3 files, re-lived lots of happy memories and "jammed" a podcast of my own! Now, I'm expecting the v-pod to do a similar magic for me; I just don't know what exactly it will be. And, I already have one complaint - how come the video-ipod doesn't come with bluetooth or wi-fi?
