Video on Demand.

So TiVo has introduced a "horror show" for the television advertising market. I've had mine for two weeks now, and I must say that you're losing time if you don't have some sort of DVR. It solves 85% of the problem with television that interactive TV and VOD are meant to solve. That is, I can watch what I want to watch, when I want to watch it. The remaining, expensive, 15% of the problem is reaching into the archives to play anything, not just what I happen to have recorded as it was broadcast.

Consider this. The DVR is an edge device. It works without requiring changes to an existing infrastructure.

I want one. I may have to go down the hacked tivo route. Either that, or I need to get around to building my linux home entertainment box. Meep.
