"Those in power get jaded, deluded, and seduced by power itself. The hunger for absolute power and, more to the point, the abuse of power, are part of human nature."
- a quote from Clint Eastwood - he's been reading my mind. Found this on the Advocates for Self-Government site which I arrived at on a google trail into libertarianism. I really don't like the word but I took the world's smallest political quiz and it has me bang between libertarianism and the left - so I guess I'll get used to it. I'm going to write a proper article about this (for me) new approach to political thinking but, in the meantime, here are the quiz questions:

For each question answer Y for yes, M for maybe, don't know or need to know more, or N for no. Each Y=20, M=10, N=0.

Nevadans to vote on legalising pot, according to an associated press report on Yahoo. On november 5, voters will decide whether to add recreational use of up to 3 ounces of marijuana to its list of what's allowed in the state that loves its vices. The Bush administration is opposed (quel surprise) and advises that it will attract drug tourism (well they've been doing fine out of gambling and prostitution tourism). A local supporter of the measure summarises by saying that the worst effect of marijuana smoking is jail.

Meantime, in good old liberal San Francisco, they're toying with the notion of growing dope in public parks and distributing it to the ill. Does the common cold count as ill?
