Government Reform Subcommittee on Homeland Security
The Government Reform Subcommittee spent yesterday reviewing testimony on issues related to cybersecurity. Testimony covered the whole range of opinion, with some vowing that the sky is indeed falling, while others believe the case to be greatly overstated by the media. It is a lot like Y2K in that respect and it is easy to get caught up in the frenzy of it. I think both sides have an element of truth. Certainly, we must be concerned and very involved in assuring that our systems are secure, but we must also balance cost and other practical considerations.
