Wireless LAN Ban

An article in eWeek says that the proposed National Strategy to Secury Cyberspace may include a ban on wireless LANs, at least until they become more secure.  That is a tall proposition.  Access points are difficult to detect on your network and assuring compliance with such a ban could be difficult.  We originated our wireless project here with our security group and our still working out some of the kinks, but I really love the functionality of wireless networks.  I am confident that our people will find a secure enterprise solution for 802.11.  For now the solution is more like this:

"Built-in wireless security I consider utterly beside the point and put my trust in SSH [the Secure Shell remote connection protocol] in the hope that the folks who are dedicated to making something rock-solid secure do a better job with security than folks who are dedicated to making and selling radio transceivers."

To assume that it has to be secure out of the box and bar the technology if it isn't, I don't believe to be productive.
