DPreview has a detailed preview of the Olympus E-1, a new digital SLR from Olympus with removable lens and using the new 4/3 CCD sensor. Since the lens is sized for the sensor, everything about the new camera is lighter than your typical DSLR that uses 35mm lenses. Of interest to VR photographers, the 4/3 system's "lenses ... should perform better at wide angles." The camera lists for $2199. Since most people do not own 4/3 system lenses, to get started shooting VRs, you'd need to add the cost of a wide-angle lens (perhaps $5-600).

Purpose
VRlog provides news, developments and analysis of the virtual reality (VR) world from a nature photographer's perspective. Since I am not connected to or funded by any VR vendor, I intend to objectively appraise what's going on, and the direction VR is headed in. -- erik goetze
