Bird Analogies

Okay, I'll expand: doves are the more peace oriented crowd, hawks are the warmongers (who "love peace as much as anyone").  Our dear president Bush is a hawk - you couldn't have missed this even if you lived in a cave in Afghanistan.  Meanwhile there are folks like Ted Kennedy who are doves ("innocent people are going to die!!").

If you kept your ears open when the Y2K craze was upon us there were roosters and owls.  My former landlord gave me a tape by one Chuck Missler who was a "preacher" "preaching" about how the world was going to end (with many a caveat since he knew he could be wrong).  Missler was a rooster.  A nice, hefty, pork fingered rooster who must have made some good money peddling his end of the world speech to people who either wanted their lives over or hated technology.  Owls were folks who were actually interested (and working) in the technical details of it all - I met many an owl certifying applications their corporation owned for Y2K "compliance".

I would have paid to watch the rollover with Missler - I wonder if he even fretted when the Moscow celebration finished and the electricity was just fine.

When America fights Iraq I wonder who I'll want to watch with the most, the doves* who lie about caring for human life when Saddam kills and tortures more Iraqis a year than an armed conflict would or the big hawks who are about to find out it isn't so easy.  Oh gosh, there I go on tectonics...

*let me state for the record all the idiotic celebrities who speak for no one.  Back to E! True Hollwood Story you go, I banish you!

Couplandspotting, again

You can meander in through the main site, but you might not find Drool.  How about 10 minutes after the war?

Don't mistake me as a dove though, I'm a kite.  Kites are smallish hawks.  (If you don't get this, don't worry your pretty little head, it's just 11:52 pm and I'm still at the office and have trouble saying things without metaphors).

Coldplay

"I'm going to buy a gun and start a war,
if you can tell me something worth fighting for..."

Not feeling so safe I'm becoming obsessed with plate tectonics.  The earth upon which you stand can move and earthquake.
