Immortality

I have a certain Emily to thank for this book.  As it started I had my reservations but it's grown on me.  The author, Milan Kundera, is Czechoslovakian and thus because of translation there may have been a certain degradation of linguistic wit, the sort of word architecture that usually draws me into a book but it no farther than the first chapters does Milan begin to introduce some ideas worth a ponder or two.  In the fledgling pages he has already introduced an interesting paradigm for the existence of God and his relation to man (more on that later) and I'm becoming more eager to see shades of a different perspective than my own emerge as I get deeper into the book.
