The Bush administration is still on track to implement the "Terrorism Information and Prevention System" this Fall. This strikes me as one of the more chilling repercussions of the 911 event and shows the administration's lack of trust in a free society. From the perspective of the administration it would seem that the terrorists have won.
Fortunately an opposition is growing. The New York Times offers an editorial on the subject today and notes that negative reactions are coming from the Post Office, ACLU and Dick Armey -- perhaps the only time those three are mentioned as supporting the same cause.
So if you don't want a Bush mandated police state, get in touch with your congressperson.
