Authentication

Authentication is a critical piece of infrastructure for web services.  As one of my products, it is currently getting a large amount of attention.  In the past, this product has been pieced together by talented technical folks, and little thought has been given to authentication as a product.  Project management has been done defacto by the people doing the work, and engineering has been in the driver's seat.  As you are probably aware, I have been involved in a "Tiger Team" focused on making the product more stable. We have had many problems with the current system, not that the people working on it aren't talented and capable.  It is becoming more stable, but we still have the old system.

I am involved in developing the new product in the role of product manager.  I am trying to get us moving in the right direction, with disconnected product management, concerted product management, good design based on customer input.  More on this later
