Franklin Covey Workshop
Last Friday a group of 30 or so IT managers listened to Franklin Covey's "Aligning Goals for Results" seminar. Most of the attendees were from ITS, but also in attendence were some assorted IT directors, a CIO, and Dave Fletcher, as well. The class was taught by my father-in-law, Don Tanner, a senior Franklin Covey presenter. Actually, it was my idea to put the thing together. I put Don and Steve Fulling in contact, and they figured out that it would be worthwhile to do. In case there are any legislature types reading this and you are wondering how we paid for high-priced executive training, don't worry, it was free. It was a beta test for the course.
The training focused on identifying priorities and aligning a team to those priorities. There were a lot of things that would be useful to us if we are successful at implementing them. Of course, old habits die hard, and our situation merits modifying some of the tools and procedures to best meet our needs. As for me, I will be using some of the tools to set my own priorities.
