Lessig asks "What have we done about it?" in re technology patents. |
|
Here's what I've done. I've developed lots of new ideas and not patented any of them. Does this get me any help from Lessig? No. Yet that's the most any developer can do. He's so focused on Microsoft and open source, misses everything else. He's not much of a leader. How about a conservancy for developers who don't take patents. Get people intellectual credit for their creations to balance the proprietary credit they are not demanding. Lessig is so damned irritating. He says "We've not done anything yet." Arrrrgh. Incorrect. He's not done anything yet. Perhaps his friends haven't done anything yet. Does Dr Lessig understand technology any better than Rep Coble? [Scripting News]
I really admire Dave a great deal and I continue to learn from him and use his products and try to spread them in my organization. Perhaps Dave is now helping me find my voice, because I disagree with his comment above. Maybe Lawrence Lessig has not helped developers directly, but though his language and communications skills he has very much helped this layperson better understand the devestations that is occuring in our culture because of the RIAA and others. I am ready to take up arms and fight for our country. Like Paul Revere Famous Midnight ride: The RIAA are coming! That has to count for something!
