The NEA-Sept. 11 spin mill

Unfotunately, I seem to suffer from the same laziness that has plagued many reporters as well. Many people, including myself, have parroted what others have said about the NEA web-site and its lesson plan suggestions for September 11 without reading the site themselves. I said earlier, that it seemed like the NEA was guilty of not teaching students to think for themselves (see the Sept. 4 post on this). I was wrong to just repeat what the NYT and others have said without researching more. I am thankful that Spinsanity - a web-site that does evenhanded reviews of malicious spin perpetrated by all sides - exists to bring me back from the vortex of partisan propaganda. Read their take on the The big NEA-Sept. 11 lie. And of course, we should all go to the NEA 9/11 Lesson Plan Page and read for ourselves what has everyone up in arms. - Steve
