Artist's Comments on Buymusic.com
9:22:27 PMI took a moment to read the letter, hit the artists website and looked for some other comments. Couldn't find anything. Jody should get a weblog. Someone tell him to buy a copy of Radio...
'Blogging and work
9:20:15 PM
I'm not sure how I found you but I've been reading your site for a week or two now. Today I noticed that on your radio site you have a link to your employer. I was wondering if your employer knows about your blog, is ok with it, etc. There have been other cases where people have lost their jobs because of their blogs. This interests me a lot, and so when I notice people who freely advertise their employer, it rouses my curiousity.
I have an unpublished policy about not commenting about my employer on my weblog. I do comment about what I do and technology in general. I'm technical consultant, working with a sales team to make sure they know about the most current trends in voice and data networking technology. I do that by "networking" with people in my field--so I write a weblog.
Maybe I can get one started at work...

Funny, so did I. Mine was not as adventurous as his, but good none the less.
Wishing for simpler, smaller software
8:40:55 PMIt's not the hard drive space that's killing Mac users. I have a PowerBook G4/550 with 768MB RAM and 10.2.6. I also have Office 98 and Office X installed. Office 98 apps running in Classic mode under Jaguar running faster and have better response time than my Office X apps.
No, it's not a computer issue. I run a standard install of Jaguar, keep the disk in good shape and don't monkey with settings--that's what test machines are for.
The worst offender is Word X. It can't keep up with my typing. That's why I use TextEdit or AppleWorks for typing the document, then copy and paste into an empty Word X doc. Worst case, I run the Word 98 version and go from there.
It sounds worse than it is; I don't write many Word docs on my Mac. My company gives me an IBM ThinkPad for that. With Office 2000 under Windows 2000, I have no issues, fast scrolling speed and plenty of features.
I still believe that we need two apps called Word: Lite and Full. I buy Lite for $49 and it does word processor basics: type, spell/grammer check, type formating and printign. Pro adds all of the style sheets/automation/VB support that Word/Office products are famous for. Sell that for $199, or $99 upgrade.

8:40:16 PMSite Update
8:39:38 PMI think we are through the storm with Radio. It's functioning again and posting is working correctly. Archives have been republished, it's responding to NNW and I've got category publishing running.
Thanks for sticking with me through all of this. I'm going to pull some of the posts I did at http://warwick.typepad.com/ and put them here too.
