I have two iPods, a 2G model (20 GB), in use since 2002, and a 1 GB Shuffle. I must admit that I'm listening to music much more than previously, thanks to the ease of use and access to hundreds of favorite tracks. I'm cutting down the time to watch tv and read newspapers, and instead listen to the music. And this seems to apply to quite a few people, as discussed in iPod success won't stop at 100 million: "As Apple marks the iPod reaching the 100 million mark in sales, company executives and tech industry analysts weigh in on the reason for the music player's success and whether there's room for growth."
