MS Reporting Services & SQL Analysis Services Microsoft has announced Reporting Services for the upcoming Yukon SQL Server (mid-year beta). This is a very significant feature and is in direct competition with Crystal Decisions, COGNOS and other reporting tools. Hopefully, it will be more cheaper. Last night, I attended two very interesting presentations regarding MS SQL Servers: Precise presented inDepth, which is a performance management tool for database applications. Raheel Retiwalla from Microsoft gave a great presentation on Data Warehousing and Analysis Services - which is, in my opinion, the most underrated corporate enterprise BI system. Most corporate IS/IT firms are, unfortunately, fixated on the higher priced Informatica, COGNOS, Brio, etc - maintaining the old adage: if it costs more, it must be good? Wrong.
