Not the only ones lied too...

from a Christian Iraqi, "G. in Bagdad" (via turningtables) regarding an 18 year-old Syrian boy:

He was so nice and in the same time wounded in his pride, he was betrayed. Allah betrayed him he told him to go, cross the border and there he will find all the infidels he wants. He could go and kill as much as he could to purify the land of the Muslims from those filthy animals. Instead he is trapped in this f***in’ hospital, being taken care of by cute Americans. He was under tremendous pressure; I felt his soul cracking under this pressure.

Neocon update

As he is held in high esteem in both Libertarian and JBS circles as one of the last patriots left in our Congress, I hope Representative Ron Paul did not cross over the line here with his piece yesterday on antiwar.com, but it does not look good:

"Since the change of the political party in charge has not made a difference, who's really in charge? ...Someone is responsible, and it's important that those of us who love liberty, and resent big-brother government, identify the philosophic supporters who have the most to say about the direction our country is going...There is abundant evidence exposing those who drive our foreign policy justifying preemptive war. Those who scheme are proud of the achievements in usurping control over foreign policy. These are the neoconservatives of recent fame.

...Neoconservatives are obviously in positions of influence and are well-placed throughout our government and the media...None of this happened by accident or coincidence. Precise philosophic ideas prompted certain individuals to gain influence to implement these plans. The neoconservatives – a name they gave themselves – diligently worked their way into positions of power and influence.

...Neo-conservatism has been around for decades and, strangely, has connections to past generations as far back as Machiavelli...More recently, the modern-day neocons have come from the far left, a group historically identified as former Trotskyists...

More important than the names of people affiliated with neo-conservatism are the views they adhere to. Here is a brief summary of the general understanding of what neocons believe:

(ranked #1 in Paul's list:)

They agree with Trotsky on permanent revolution, violent as well as intellectual...

(ranked #15 in Paul's list:)

They dislike and despise libertarians (therefore, the same applies to all strict constitutionalists.)

(ranked #17 (and last) in Paul's list:)

They unconditionally support Israel and have a close alliance with the Likud Party."

There is far more to Congressman Paul's long and thoughtful analysis of the current state of affairs in our country, but I hope that I did not just read there that he is suggesting that "who's really in charge" of our government are "Trotskyists" in "a close alliance with the Likud party."

If I can get dinged for saying, "fascists have found a home in the Republican Party," Congressman Paul might best shift into damage control mode.  He certainly could have stopped at belief #16 and made his point just as well.  Perhaps like Howard Coble he will wish he quit while he was ahead in making his point.  As it is, he may now have to defend against charges like those raised by Joel Mobray.
