Thanks to all of my volunteers, supporters, and voters! I am pleased with the vote total I received, even though I did not win. I broke the record for a Libertarian vote % in Guilford County. Now, all I need to do between now and the next election is get FAMOUS! Right now I'll be using the extra time I had previously spent campaigning studying extra hard for my classes at GTCC.
I also plan to reach out to the community and get involved in one or two community groups like the Jaycees and the Multiple Sclerosis Society. I'm just getting warmed up-this campaign was really fun and I learned a lot! My daughter says she plans to run a campaign when she grows up, too-looks like she is going to follow her mother's example!
It was really great getting to know all of the different people I met while on the campaign trail. I'd like to offer my congratulations to my opponent, Republican Steve Wood. Since he represents me now, I will be keeping an eye on him. I sincerely hope that he will represent us well.
One thing that the Libertarians are going to work on is getting rid of the straight party option on the ballot. Late last night re-elected Republican John Blust said he is in favor of this. Personally, I believe we should have no party names on the ballot. This may encourage voters to do a little more of their own research on the candidates.
