I've posted pics of the Ladies of Liberty from the Triad area at my campaign web site. Honestly, I'm not sure that it did anything for my campaign. But it's over and done with, time to move on to the rest of my life.
Alan Hawkes asked me "Are you sure you're not a Republican?" at the High Point University candidates forum. Yes, I am sure.
Reason one: I believe in personal freedom, not just economic freedom. That means keeping pointless "moral legislation" out of government. It's pointless because it doesn't work anyway. As long as someone is not violating your rights, why push your agenda on them? We become less free when others are oppressed. Different types of "morality" are going to come from family and social circles, where it is most effective. As you'll see in the calendar, I believe that gays should have the same legal rights as we do. Equal rights, not special rights.
I'm not a Democrat or a Republican because I don't believe in giving more freedom to one group while oppressing the rights of another. Both parties cater to different groups and want to restrict others' rights.
Reason two: I don't support our interventionist foreign policy.
Reason three: I don't approve the "micromanagement" of everything under the sun. Citizens should be allowed to use their brains and learn from the best teacher, Experience.
Reason four: Government keeps growing, no matter which party is in control. The GOP will certainly run away with spending just like the Democrats.
My neighbor says if I'll only "switch parties" I would win. Why should I do that? I'm not a fake, I'm so bad at lying-so I will stay with the third largest party as long as it rings true for me.
On Nov. 5th, I voted for candidates in all three parties based on my personal knowledge of them. I am very proud to say that I've met everyone I voted for. What about you? How much do you know about the candidates you voted for? The best thing we can do to encorage voters to get to know candidates is to remove party designation from the ballot. I doubt the ruling class will go for this, but perhaps we can get rid of the "straight ticket" option.
