Of War and Love...

Bush ignoring evidence? MI6 and CIA: the new enemy within

Submitted 3 different letters to area newspapers last night, crossing my fingers so they all will be printed.

Here is a transcript of my 3-minute speech at the Commissioners' meeting.

Hello I’m Jennifer Medlock, former candidate and proud member of the Libertarian Party of Guilford County. Tonight I’m going to talk about love.

The tragedy of the Columbia explosion has certainly saddened us all. Hopefully events like these cause us to think about how precious life is. With this in mind, we must be sure that we express our love for one another while we can. We must encourage each other, smile at each other, and make each moment a positive one.

Tonight I am going to give us all an opportunity to do just that. The Libertarian Party of Guilford County has formed a walking team for the MS Walk in April. Funds raised will benefit the national Multiple Sclerosis Society. I’m the team captain, and I want to invite everyone to join us for a bout of good exercise and political discussion. No matter how you vote.

I have a personal interest in this project as my mother was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis fifteen years ago. She experiences problems walking, chronic fatigue, pain, and depression. MS is difficult to diagnose, as symptoms vary from person to person. There is no cure yet for MS. Perhaps you know someone with a chronic disease as well. It is a hard thing for many people to deal with. If I’ve learned nothing else from my mother it is that we must never forget our potential. We must never forget that having a positive outlook on life leads to increased quality of life. I didn’t always fully appreciate what my mother did for me, but I am making up for it now. Having my own daughter has helped me realize how great she really was. So my daughter and I are walking the MS Walk in her honor.

Tonight I am asking you to share the love with us, in the true spirit of St. Valentine. If you’d like to donate, please keep one of these special paper hearts I’m going to pass around, and write your name on it. I am also passing around information about the MS Walk, the Libertarian Team, and ways you can help us reach our fundraising goal. If you would like a receipt for your tax-deductible donation, sign the donor list I am passing around as well. Fr more information, log on to gclp.org or call me at 336-841-8020. Thank you so much for making a difference.
