Shouldn't be news but anyway: dircmp is considered a legacy command, diff should recognize if the targets are directories, to traverse a hierarchy use the -r option.

After a lot of arguing if mastering "GoLive" or "DreamWeaver" means you are a web-designer, this article called "A Recipe for Learning Web Design at Digital Web Magazine spells out my opinion on that subject.
I'm not saying these tools are bad, but judging from the load times, it is possible to spot a site created with these products simply by the time one has to wait for the pages to load. It's not that my browser can't handle tables nested five levels deep to achieve something that just needs a little CSS positioning. I know, the software I'm using for this blog makes uses of tables as well, trust me, I'm working on it, but IMHO tables are for data and not positioning things on a website.
I've been told by someone creating websites, that using the aforementioned tools eases maintenance. He may be right, on the other hand, XPress or InDesign do the same, they don't differentiate between data and presentation, and that is my point here.

Interesting article called Loosing control over your TV at Technology Review. Paints a pretty dark, but substantially believable, picture about the future of television or all media that, according to the 'owners' is just a 'license'.
See also: Whose side is TiVo on?, excellent opinion piece at the famous Doc Searls Weblog, it's older but I stumbled over it today. (I knew there was something I wanted to post yesterday)
