(Slightly Off Topic II) As Rabbit in the Moon notes, there has been one, if not two, periods in the US when Mayan design and culture was popular. During both of these times Frankoma Pottery made Mayan / Aztec influenced pottery designs. John Frank, part of the American art pottery movement, designed a line of dinnerware named Mayan Aztec in 1936, combining an imaginary Mayan Primary Standard Sequence around the edge of the plates with his trademark random brushstrokes of brown slip.
