Astronomical Surface Decorations on Ceramics, Mesoamerica part XII

Charles William Johnson's Patterns of Time Cycles and Orbits:

Ancient Mesoamerican Calendar (Earth/matriX SCIENCE IN ANCIENT ARTWORK)

Mr. Johnson goes into great detail about how the Mayan calender can be represented graphically (as well as the motion of Venus) and how that representation is similar to the decorations found in Mayan art.

These type of decorations, fret work, can be found throughout Mayan art including pottery.

This is similar to Prof. Carlos Gonzales Vargas proposal we looked at awhile back.

Could the geometric decoration on a vase refer to time cycles, or perhaps a particular date and/or time?   Wouldn't that confer a whole new level of meaning to a piece?

The Night's Sky
(A continuing saga of me and my telescope)

Well, a hole in the clouds opened up, I lugged out the scope, chased Mars between the trees until the fog rolled in, and I gave up.
