Olympic Pottery Controversy cont'- In the 20 minutes I have to blog in the morning, I jumped the gun a bit on the Olympics controversy yesterday. The 1st European Ceramic Competition, did take into account "ergonomics" (an apt term), thus not awarding gold and silver. I don't want to give the impression that the judges didn't take that (function/ergonomics) into account, in the greater view they did. However, since function/ergonomics was mostly lacking from the quality entrants, they didn't have much of that attribute to judge on. The Players: I was able to look up more information on two of the three bronze medalists. Rita De Nigris is really a traditional (functional) potter. Richard Godfrey comes from a more sculptural perspective, but is focused on functional forms. How about the judges? Jeroen Bechtold, Emidio Galassi, Jindra Vokova, Maro Kerassioti, and Drosaki Eleutheria (couldn't find an outside link.) Let's take a look tomorrow- 7:42:06 AM |
