EduResources Weblog--Higher Education Resources Online
This weblog focuses on locating, evaluating, discussing, and providing guidelines to instructional resources for faculty and students in higher education. The emphasis is on free, shared, HE resources. Related topics and news (about commercial resources, K-12 resources, T&D resources, educational technology, digital libraries, distance learning, open source software, metadata standards, cognitive mapping, etc.) will also be discussed--along with occasional excursions into more distant miscellaneous topics in science, computing, and education. The EduResources Weblog operates in conjunction with a broader weblog called The Open Learner about using open knowledge resources across a diversity of subjects, levels, and interests for a wide range of learners and learning communities--students in schools and colleges, home schoolers, hobbyists, vocational learners, retirees, and others.

This useful web site is maintained by Stephen Bell, Director of the Paul J. Gutman Library at Philadelphia University.  "The Keeping Up Web Site seeks to identify free sources of information. A few subscription-based sources may be identified - and that will be noted. Please keep in mind that some of the free sources will include advertising; most of it will not be offensive and subscribing to these resources should not lead to spamming." Both students and instructors can benefit by adding this site to their bookmarks and by consulting it regularly--everyone struggles to keep up with information and technology.

"The Keeping Up Web Site is designed to help library and information science professionals, information technologists, instructional technologists, and other academic technology support professionals develop and maintain a program of self-guided professional development. A central, guiding premise of this web site is that academic librarians and technology professionals must go beyond the constraints of their own literature to really keep up and maintain their myriad skills and diversified knowledge base."

The compilations are organized into several categories: Resources for Librarians, Resources for Information Technologists, Resources for Instructional Technologists, Resources for Business Information Librarians, Resources for Higher Education, Resources for Internet Searching, Resources for Web Technology and Design, Resources for Computing and PC Technology, Resources for Online Training and Distance Education, Resources for General Technology and Innovation, and Resources for Cool and New Web Sites. Stephen Bell also maintains a weblog, the Kept-Up Academic Librarian: "... is designed to provide academic librarians with news about developments, events, new research, and more - almost any news about higher education I can find that may be of interest to an academic librarian."
