Last weekend was filled with activity. Retreat duties completely
consumed my time. We had three absolutely charming guests -- people
from the Maine sangha. John and I agreed afterwards that we had the
most interesting conversations with our guests than we've ever had.
It's so wonderful having a weekend talking about my dharma. It's such
a personal thing, and so completely misunderstood by non-Buddhists, that
it's really pointless to try to defend it. Buddhism is something that
requires the person to really desire it, because the lessons aren't
light, self-help platitudes, but they are very deep and profound
concepts that require long hours of meditation and study with qualified
teachers to realize.
I spent the weekend being the instructor's "tea" person (the person who
keeps her tea cup full). I wrote a story about it, and will post my
story as soon as I polish it up.
