Public Access To Government Information (I) The Citizen Access Project from the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications offers reports and rankings of states in various areas of government information. New to the site is a ranking and summary of states' Sex Offender Database sites, with evaluations, and detailed legal information. States are ranked in meteorological terms (Utah ranks "partly cloudy"), and there are a host of other rankings, many apparently not yet completed. Public Access To Government Information (II) An article in Sunday's Salt Lake Tribune by Rebecca Walsh highlights a growing concern among some government officials about access to information collected from the public, especially by businesses eager to amass targeted mailing lists. Salt Lake County Recorder Gary Ott, State Senator David Steele, and Assistant Attorney General Mark Burns express various degrees of concern about the issue.
