Restaurant Health Notifications
The recent report of diners in a major restaurant in Salt Lake getting sick brings up the question of whether one is able to locate reports of food handling violations on government websites in Utah. The answer, for the most part is NO.  Salt Lake County does provide a page , but the only restaurant on it is the one in the news, so I'm guessing this is far from a complete listing. In any case entries only reside on the site for seven days. A recent newspaper article in the Salt Lake Tribune (Sep 10) indicated that pressure from the Food Safety Committee of the Salt Lake Valley Health Department, which included restaranteurs, was keeping complete information off the web. Royal DeLegge, head of the health department's Environmental Health division, attended the meetings. He says the decision was driven by concern about the negative impact on the restaurant business from posting inspection reports online.comments or questions [] 10:56:58 AM
