My 'really old' NLBean natural language database interface

I was an early adopter of Java (before release 1.0).

When Sun released the first JDBC implementation, one of the first things that I tried was writing a natural language interface for relational databases. My NLBean package is probably the ugliest Java code that you can find. The problem is: how do you get rid of old stale code that works well? I estimate that about 12,000 people downloaded NLBean from my open source page and probably (with some overlap) another 6000 people got it by downloading my free Java AI web book that uses NLBean as an example program.

Because the code is so old, I keep trying to get rid of it, but then I get complaints. After taking another look at this ancient code I decided to remove the download from my open source page a month ago and I plan on removing the example from my Java AI web book real soon. So, if you want it, better get it now.

Back online

Well, we certainly enjoy living in the mountains of Northern Arizona, but it does have a few drawbacks:

Our wireless broadband has been out for 3 days because the techs could not get on our roof in the stormy weather to replace some equipment.

Anyway, we are back online (including my web demos and KnowledgeBooks.com).
