I guess I'll get to the big news from MWSF later, but I am pretty jazzed by the announcement that TiVos will be able to discover shared photos and shared music via Rendezvous. I don't know exactly what is meant by "shared photos". I guess it will be an iPhoto feature like the iTunes sharing via Rendezvous that was demoed by Steve at MacWorld Expo 2002.
I'm really looking forward to this. It will make displaying photos so much easier than connecting my TiBook to the TV. I wonder whether it will work with a first-generation Tivo upgraded with TurboNET or only Series2s.
The iTunes music sharing is cool, too, but I don't think it can outdo the SliMP3. |

Not the biggest story from MWSF, but cool, nonetheless. I've just downloaded (via Safari, BTW), installed, and run a couple of the standard X11 programs (xterm, xcalc, oclock, etc.), but it looks cool. Should make use of X software much easier for the novice.
It is also worth noting that Fink supports this, as well, which will make getting other X software a piece of cake. |
