Googling about looking for anyone using something akin to SFG (see below), I ran across this. Love the Simpsons parody, and I think GFSG works better as a replacement for RTFM.

The prior "counter-googling" post reminded me of Joi Ito's (relatively) recent post on "page slapping". I had a coworker who often replied to RTFM-style questions with the Google search URL that would lead to the answer. (Hmm, how about SFG as a new response?) I think this could be called "Google slapping". It is arguably rude, but then again, I liked to think of it as being in the "if you teach a man to fish" vein. Knowing where to look is often what separates the clued from the clueless, and seen in that light, it seems like it might be the thoughtful thing to do.

Counter-googling. companies looking you up in google to better serve you as their customer. some folks will find this concept fascianting [sic]. Others horrifying.... have you looked yourself up in google recently?... [Teal Sunglasses]

Interesting. I often Google people I'm about to talk to for the first time. Sometimes interesting, sometimes not. I don't think anything about me in Google is too worrisome, but I can see where it could help marketers round out my profile, which is really OK for me. In case any are doing so right now, I'm NOT interested in "making money working from home", "young schoolgirls", "1nkjet cartr1dges", or enlarging anything. Thanks.

If I were a cam whore I'd have the Sports Night DVD set on my wish list.... [lemonodor]

Not a "cam whore", but I think I might put it on my list anyway. I don't watch sports to any real extent, and I certainly don't watch sports shows, but I love Sports Night. What is most striking to me about this show is that I cannot watch it in the background. The dialog is non-stop and demands your attention. If you didn't catch this when it was on network TV--and few (including myself) did--you should really try to catch it via recordings or on Comedy Central.
