Island Time
Is like no other time in the world. Nothing but NOTHING moves "fast" on an island...the traffic, the people or the lifestyles. And the sooner you learn this small but very important aspect of island life, the much happier you will become. So it was with myself, after leaving the hussle and bustle of "city life" and arriving in paradise it was an adjustment to learn to "slow down" and enjoy the sights and atmosphere. Certainly the weather cooperates in this endeavor with the sunny humid days and warm balmy nights, not to mention the daily showers that occur each and everyday. But they are shortlived and evaporate quickly. So what better way to slow down and relax whilst enjoying a tropical drink and conversing with some of the locals. It was there, in the poolside restaurant that I learned a great many things from them concerning the adventures that awaited. There were boat trips, parasailing, snorkeling, diving, wave runners, shopping trips and historic sights to be had not to mention all the fine cuisine fare. All that was left to do was simply...CHOOSE! A task easier said than done given the time there and ample desires to experience all that I could. So I settled on two guided tours, one to the island of St.John...just a mere 3 miles across the bay and a further into the week, a sailing day trip to the British Virgin Islands. I figured that in between these two guided excursions, I could amuse myself with other diversions on this isle in the sun. Stay tuned for my next post which will relate my adventures on the isle of St. John!
