Safe Light
Another weekend in the darkroom. What a truly amazing experience. There are countless numbers of variables that must be taken into account during the printing phase. It's not simply a matter of dropping a piece of paper into a tray of chemicals. Working in the dark is giving me the utmost control over my work. Deciding what mood to set is probably one of the largest obsticles that I am trying to learn. I am sure that I will be trying to overcome this obsticle for a very long time.
If you have any interest in Black and White photography, I highly recommend reading an issue of LENSWORK. It is by far the best magazine that my hands have ever held. Really! It has virtually NO ads, it offers great interviews and stories, and even more incredible Black and White archival gelitan silver prints that you can look at over and over, or if you like - purchase. Every time I receive a new issue I literally read it from cover to cover. This month's cover is an increadible FSA print, Migrant Mother, by Dorthea Lange. It's that good!
