Slide vs Print Film
The age old debate continues. Lately I have fretted over this more and more because I am about to embark on a "trip of a lifetime" in a month. Backpacking in Thailand - - as an avid photographer (still learning), it is a dream come true.
This trip has caused me much angst, not deciding what to wear because that's fairly simple when you are carrying your stuff on your back. The fretting has been over what format to pack (35mm v. med. format) and what film type to pack. In a perfect world I would bring it all, but I don't live in a perfect world and I must choose.
Because I am trying to make a completely informed decision, I presented this question to a forum at Photo.net. This site is truly an amazing place to gain useful information on photography. I received a ton of responses to the question I posed. Right now I think I have figured it out, medium format, print film, 160 speed, 400 speed, 800 speed. My backup body will be an old Canon Rebel 35mm that I like b/c it's light. Unfortunately, I will not be able to run to the local camera store while I am standing in the middle of a small village - so I have to bring what I need.
I still have not figured out how much film to bring. I guess one step at a time. If anyone has any backpacking photography insight I would love to hear them.
