Eclipse is starting up... I'm notoriously hard on my laptop keyboards. In the past 3 years, I've gone through no less that 6 keyboards. In my own defense, I believe that Dell put some really crappy keyboards in the Latitude CPxJ. In Dell's defense, I know I'm a much more ruthless typer than most.

I think I'm getting ready to go through another one. I'm starting to have problems with the left control and alt keys. The special 'Fn' key has been dead for a while. Now, it looks as though the rest of the lower left contingent is getting ready to give up the ghost.

The problems with my keys made me actually look at my keyboard. It's funny; I can see where I've worn the coating off certain keys to the point that they are shiny. Gives me some insight as to which keys I'm abusing the hardest. Looks like for me it's a, s, d, f, e, r, t, x, c, y, u, i, o, j, m, n, and the right side of the space bar. Interestingingly enough backspace and enter seem to be fairing well. Perhaps it's because the pinky is weaker and not capable of doling out premium punishment.

Well, it looks like Eclipse is back up now... off to beat more of the fuzz off my keys.

News.Com: The future of a scare campaign. But the most daunting obstacle to the recording industry's dogged efforts to rid the Internet of music piracy is a lawsuit that Pacific Bell Internet Services (also known as SBC Communications) filed against the RIAA last week. [Tomalak's Realm]

Could it be the beginning of the end of the RIAA McCarthyism?

Aug 4th, 2003: Ximian acquired by Novell.. Today Novell acquired Ximian. The press release is available here.

Mono and Gnome form an integral part of the Novell strategy. [Mono Project News]

Oh boy. So is Novell going to make another run at Microsoft? I hope this doesn't kill the Ximian projects like Evolution and the Ximian Desktop.

Maybe I'm just being a pessimist. Maybe I should be glad that Ximian is going to have some Novell cash to spur development. Maybe this will revitalize the Ximian offerings. Maybe...
