Change For The Better? newyorkchanging is a series of photographs of locations in New York City.  The photographs are arranged in pairs, with one photo taken many years ago and the other much more recently.  The pairs are from the exact location and angle so you can easily compare the original scene to the "rephotograph." Interesting to see how much, or often times how little, things have changed in New York City over the years.  Sometimes the effects of time/progress are subtle.  Other pairs show a much more dramatic change.  Begs the question of what's better:  the old or the new? Rock Your Planet When I need to have some music on and I'm too lazy to fire up a bunch of mp3's or flip through hundreds of cds looking for just the right one, I instead tune into Planet Rock (channel 861 for those with Sky digital), and more often than not, they'll be playing something that brings back a memory or a dozen, puts a smile on my face, or makes me wish I could pick up Planet Rock in my car. If you're into classic rock pre-1990, then Planet Rock is for you.  Just while I'm typing this, they've gone from Pink Floyd to early Van Halen to The Clash to ZZ Top.  You just don't get that everyday.  And for those without Sky digital (99.9% of my readers), there is a link on their website to listen live.  Not the best sound quality, but better than 99.9% of what's playing on MTV at the moment. Hold on a sec.  Let me flip over to MTV to double-check. Chingy? Yeah, I was right the first time. 4:45:21 PM     |
