It's a problem I've wrestled with for many years. What are the roles of Network Management tools? How best are these tools implemented? After many years of frustration I've finally hit on a strategy to answer these questions. The answer? Processes.
So, from now on I am refusing to make any Network Management tools purchases unless they are obtained in support of an established process. I've identified 7 such processes that are currently under development, or at least refinement, at UEN. These processes are:
Internet Usage Analysis Process
Circuit Utilization Analysis Process
Equipment Utilization Analysis Process
Resource Analysis Process
End User Experience Analysis Process
Systems Analysis Process
Security Threat Analysis Process
The final piece of this puzzle is that all of these processes will support the UEN Performance Report (formerly known as the UEN Scorecard Project.)
