Jim's Pond - Exploring the Universe of Ideas
"Beware when the great God lets loose a thinker on this planet. Then all things are at risk. It is as when a conflagration has broken out in a great city, and no man knows what is safe, or where it will end." --Ralph Waldo Emerson

TGFS

Man, I love Saturdays. I love getting up early and having nothing in particular to do. I enjoy the look of anticipation in Champ's eyes as I kick around the house and get ready for our morning walk. And I look forward to all the choices. What will I do with this day?

If anyone ever gives me a planner and tries to get me to schedule my Saturdays, I'll rebel. I think the best Saturday I ever had was a Monday. It was Memorial Day several years ago. Two of my sisters were living in Moab, Utah. I had the day off and went to visit. Monday morning dawned and I took the opportunity to golf nine holes at the public course in Moab.

After a hearty bacon and eggs breakfast my brother and I rode most of the Slick Rock trail on our mountain bikes. Next, we took my brother-in-law's ATV's for a nice ride out in the red rock desert.

After that, we all piled into a six seat Cessna and were given a tour of Canyonlands and skirted along Arches National Park. Canoeing came next, on the Colorado river. And Finally, as the sun set, I finished the back nine on the course where I began the day. It's that kind of potential that makes me enjoy the prospects of Saturday.

Or, I can just sit around the house, cook out on the grill in the afternoon, and pretty much blow off the day. Which is pretty much what I did today..........
