New Book
For the past few months I've been reading what could only be considered popcorn for the brain. It really started just before my Hawaiian vacation. I got serious about reading "The Golden Buddha", a recently published Clive Cussler work. Then, in the middle of that read I picked up another Cussler book, "Trojan Oddesey."
I enjoy reading Cussler. He is predictable. He is fun. He uses dozens of cliches and mixed metaphors. His writing isn't really very good. It's the type of reading that allows me to put my brain into cruise control and escape.
So this weekend I visited my local Barnes and Noble, looking for a bit of an upgrade. I picked up a cycling magazine and couldn't find anything that peaked my interest. Standing in the checkout line I looked over at the discount rack and noticed a Stephen E. Ambrose book with a large $6.95 tag. I stepped out of line and checked out the book. After reading the jacket I decided this would be a good read. The book is "To America." It is Ambrose's reflections on a lifetime as an historian. It's promises to be a bit of an upgrade over my most recent reads............
