Senate Leader scraps website war poll, blaming hackers. "Tampering" or the wrong result? [The Register]
----
Geez. according to the article Frist's online poll received 8700 votes in one day and judging by the shift in poll numbers, the vast majority of those were votes opposing war in Iraq. The senator's staff can only conclude it was a hacker.
I personally received 3 emails encouraging me to vote on the poll, not to mention seeing it linked on some high-profile blogs. With that kind of attention 8700 votes (or unique visitors) is hardly surprising.
After voting myself (when the poll was still in favor of war), I tried checking back and found that page empty on Frist's website. My first reaction was that perhaps his site was overloaded by blog responders wanting to vote... but it became clear that something was up on their end. Good to see something written up about it.
