With the exception of videos for young children, I don’t really understand why anybody buys DVDs. First of all, there is no movie I really want to watch twice within 5 years’ time. But okay, I accept that there are grown-ups who want to watch the same movie more than twice within the lifetime of the media (media, as in VHS, DVD, etc). Above 3 viewings, and you are starting to move toward the break-even point for buying renting, if you generously factor in possible BlockBuster late fees and travel expense. However, with the advent of NetFlix, I really, really don’t understand the motivation for buying!
