KARE11 news just had a story about the Minnesota law that limits the salary of any state employee to 95% of the governor's salary. The law is, of course, ridiculous in principle (can you say "dirigiste"?). But since the governor's salary is a relatively low $120,000, it is more than a matter of principle. Several local governments, including that of my own town of Woodbury, see this as an issue.

According to the news story, two of the leading state Republicans--Governor Tim Pawlenty, and Speaker Steve Sviggum--are opposed to the bill to repeal the ceiling. They should know better.
