trackback []

Mother nature gave us an unexpected treat this evening. Just an hour or so after dark, a neigbhor called, telling us to look out our front door. We were astounded to see ethereal green lights--the aurora borealis. It was not a bad show, lasted for about 15 minutes (at least from the time we started watching). Mostly green--as typical--with faint traces of pink.

Seeing the aurora has long been on my "life list" of things to do. When we moved to MN two years ago, I figured my likelihood of seeing it sooner rather than later had increased. But even though people said you could occasionally see it in Minneapolis, from darker locations, I doubted that would be my ticket. I figured we would go far north in MN some winter, in search of the lights. But here I got to see it, right from my front door, in a busy, well-lighted suburb (I really would have liked to have one of Dumbledore's put-outer,to deal with an annoying streetlight.)
